Everything families and referral partners ask us
About HVPN
What is Hudson Valley Private Nursing?
HVPN is an RN-led private nursing practice providing personalized hospital-to-home recovery support, hands-on nursing care, caregiver education, healthcare navigation, and recovery guidance. Every visit is personally provided by Andreen Robinson, MSN, RN.
Who provides HVPN services?
Andreen Robinson, MSN, RN, a New York Registered Nurse and MSN Nurse Educator with a background in critical care, medical-surgical nursing, and clinical education. You work with the same RN at every visit. See our Trust Center for full credentials.
Is HVPN a home care agency?
No. HVPN is an individual New York RN professional practice operating through a PLLC, not a Licensed Home Care Services Agency, Certified Home Health Agency, or nurse staffing company.
Why work with an individual RN practice instead of an agency?
You get the same nurse for every consultation, direct communication with no scheduler or intake coordinator in between, and personalized attention shaped around your family’s specific situation.
What areas does HVPN serve?
Orange County and the broader Hudson Valley, with flexibility for nearby areas based on your specific situation.
Is HVPN private pay?
Yes. HVPN operates as a private pay practice. Some long-term care insurance policies may reimburse private nursing care; documentation can be provided to support an insurance inquiry.
The Consultation Experience
Do you visit my home?
Yes. Consultations take place in your home, where the discharge instructions, medications, and recovery routine actually need to be put into practice.
What happens during a consultation?
We discuss your goals and concerns, review hospital discharge instructions, organize medication information, provide caregiver education tailored to your situation, prepare you for upcoming appointments, and answer your nursing questions; then leave you with written recommendations and next steps.
How soon can I schedule?
Reach out through the contact form or by phone and we will follow up the same business day, typically within a few hours during business hours, to schedule your consultation.
Can you attend appointments with us?
We help you prepare for appointments: organizing questions, reviewing what to expect, and clarifying what the visit is for, so you walk in ready and walk out clear on next steps.
Can you explain hospital discharge instructions?
Yes. Reviewing and explaining discharge instructions in plain language is one of the most common reasons families reach out to us.
How long does a consultation take?
Each visit is scheduled with enough time to thoroughly review your situation, answer questions, and make sure nothing is rushed.
What should I have ready before my first consultation?
Just your discharge paperwork and medication list if you have them. Nothing needs to be organized in advance; that is part of what the consultation helps with.
Is there a follow-up after the consultation?
Yes. Every consultation includes written recommendations and next steps, plus guidance on when to contact your healthcare provider.
Medications & Recovery
Can you help with my medications?
Yes. Our Medication Safety Program reviews discharge medication instructions, explains what they mean, and helps prepare your questions for the prescribing provider.
Do you prescribe or adjust medications?
No. Medication understanding consultations explain and organize what has already been prescribed; prescribing and adjusting medications stays with your physician or pharmacist.
Can you help with wound or ostomy care?
Yes. Our Complex Wound Recovery Program provides hands-on wound and ostomy care, with visits based on clinical need and provider orders where required.
What if I’m not sure what a normal recovery looks like?
That is exactly what recovery guidance is for: understanding what to expect, what is normal, and what warrants a call to your provider.
Do you provide hands-on nursing care like wound dressing changes or medication administration?
Yes. Andreen provides direct, hands-on nursing care, including wound and dressing changes and medication administration, when clinically appropriate and supported by provider orders where required. See our Terms of Use for full service scope.
My situation does not fit neatly into one program. What then?
Our Transitional Care Program builds a scoped plan around your specific clinical need, with clear goals and a defined end point, rather than ongoing or open-ended coverage.
Do you provide palliative support?
Yes, RN-scope symptom support, education, and care coordination, delivered alongside your treating providers. See Palliative Nursing Support. HVPN is not a hospice agency and does not enroll patients in a hospice or palliative care program.
Caregivers & Family
Can you educate family caregivers?
Yes. This is one of the most requested parts of every consultation. We teach practical caregiving skills and help caregivers feel prepared instead of overwhelmed.
I’ve never cared for someone after surgery. Where do I start?
Start with a consultation. We walk through exactly what your loved one needs, what to expect during recovery, and how to handle the parts that feel unfamiliar.
Can multiple family members join the consultation?
Yes. Anyone involved in the care of your loved one is welcome to be part of the conversation.
I live far away and manage my parent’s care remotely. Can you still help?
Yes. We help organize information and coordinate questions in a way that keeps you informed even when you cannot be there in person for every visit.
What if my family is facing a difficult healthcare decision?
Our Advanced Illness Support Program provides compassionate guidance to help your family understand your options, prepare for medical appointments, and make informed decisions together.
Working with Your Care Team
Do you work with my physician?
We help you prepare for conversations with your physician and organize the right questions; we work alongside your care team, not in place of it.
There are too many appointments and providers. Can you help me keep track?
Yes. Our Healthcare Navigation Program is built specifically for this: organizing next steps, appointments, and recommendations so nothing falls through the cracks.
Can you communicate with my care team on my behalf?
With your authorization, yes, we can support communication with your treating team regarding follow-up needs or care transitions.
What should I do in an emergency?
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately. HVPN does not provide emergency services and is not available for urgent or life-threatening situations.
Referral Partners
Who should refer to HVPN?
Hospital discharge planners, physicians, geriatric care managers, elder law professionals, and community partners working with families who need added RN consultation during a complex transition home.
How does the referral process work?
A brief professional conversation confirms fit, the family contacts HVPN directly to schedule, and required authorization is obtained before any clinical details are discussed. See our Referral Partners page for the full process.
Do you pay for referrals?
No. HVPN does not pay or accept compensation in exchange for referrals. Referral arrangements are professional courtesy based solely on appropriate fit.
How do I start a referral conversation?
Use the professional inquiry form on the Referral Partners page or call directly. General context about the transition or education need is sufficient — no patient information is required at this stage.
Ready to talk through your situation?
